Unless the power supply in grid has been interrupted by a power company malfunction, wind storm, wild fire or other event, often times there will be warning signs electric power is being overloaded before it causes a power outage at your home (but not at anybody else’s house on the block). Signs to look for:
- Regularly tripping the circuit breakers; Are you running too many appliances at the same time and charging your electric car?
- The smell of burning metal or plastic. This alerts a homeowner that the heat around an electrical outlet is high enough to melt plastic.
- If the breaker box is buzzing.
In any of these situations, emergency electrical services from a qualified electrician are needed.
